3.1 Aphasia Awareness Month:
Motion that CBRM Mayor Amanda M. McDougall and Council proclaim the month of
June 2022 to be Aphasia Awareness Month in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality.
Carried.
3.2 Longest Day of SMILES
Motion that CBRM Mayor Amanda M. McDougall and Council proclaim June 19'', 2022
as "Longest Day of SMILESO"in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality. Carried.

4. PRESENTATIONS:
4.1 Transit Cape Breton:
Item 4.1(b)was discussed at this point in the meeting.
b) Go Forward Plan:
The Senior Manager of Public Works provided a presentation on the Go Forward Plan.

The Manager of Transit& Fleet Maintenance provided an update on Transit Cape Breton.

5. CORPORATE SERVICES ISSUES:
5.1 Authorization to Purchase Property—30 Foundry Street, Glace Bay:
Motion to authorize the purchase of 30 Foundry Street, Glace Bay by CBRM. Carried.
5.2 Su22ested Resolutions —Federation of Canadian Municipalities:
It was agreed that a two-week time frame be provided to Council Members to forward
ideas to the Mayor who will prepare a tentative list of resolutions for consideration at the
next Council meeting which will then be forwarded to the FCM by July 12'', 2022.

7. Review of Action Items from this Meeting
The Mayor provided an update on previous Council action items.

Mayor McDougall welcomed Naomi Barrett and Sarwat Naeem, students of Munroe
Academy, and congratulated them for bringing their ideas to Council and being great
Community Leaders.

Moved by Councillor O'Quinn, seconded by Councillor Green, that CBRM Mayor
Amanda M. McDougall and Council proclaim June 19th, 2022 as "Longest Day of
SMILESO"in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality.
Motion Carried.
4. PRESENTATIONS:
* Item 4.1(b). was discussed at this point in the meeting.
4.1 Transit Cape Breton:
(b) Go Forward Plan:
Ray Boudreau, Senior Manager of Public Works, provided the presentation on the Go
Forward Plan included in the agenda package.
Following the presentation, Councillors discussed the information provided and thanked
Mr. Boudreau for providing the presentation.
Mayor McDougall advised there is a meeting scheduled with Minister MacFarlane and
Minister Dunn on June 21st, 2022 to discuss creating a Community Transportation Plan.
She also noted having conversations with the Nova Scotia Community College to provide
an Electric Motor System Technician—Red Seal program.

PRESENTATIONS—Transit Cape Breton (Cont'd):
a) Update:
Kathy Donovan, Manager of Transit & Fleet Maintenance provided an update on Transit
Cape Breton as provided in the agenda package.
Ms. Donovan noted that there is a tender out to complete a Fleet Study and once it is
awarded, a presentation will be made to Council on the study process.
Ms. Donovan advised there is an income assistance program provided by United Way in
partnership with CBRM. Anyone needing assistance can call the United Way office at
(902) 562-5226.
Following the presentation, Councillors discussed the information provided and thanked
Ms. Donovan for the update.
Mayor McDougall thanked staff and noted that Council will be informed of any new
funding opportunities on various studies and she will follow up with the conversations with
Minister MacFarlane and Minister Dunn next week about a Community Transportation
Plan.

agenda package and the following motion was put forward:
Motion:
Moved by Councillor Tracey, seconded by Councillor Green, to authorize the purchase of
30 Foundry Street, Glace Bay by CBRM.
Motion Carried.
5.2 Suuested Resolutions —Federation of Canadian Municipalities:
Mayor Amanda M. McDougall reviewed her memo in the agenda package, and it was

6. COMMITTEE REPORTS: N/A
7. Review of Action Items from this Meeting:
The Mayor provided an update on the previous Council action items including:
1. Tanya MacVicar, Unu Advisor, will attend an upcoming Council meeting to provide
a progress report on her work as Unu Advisor to date, and a list of actions that she
would like Council to undertake to help work in reconciliation.
2. Waiting for a response from the Premier's Office for a meeting to discuss the
renegotiation of the service exchange and the MOU.
3. Ask that the Novaporte Steering Committee meetings be reconvened and have a
Committee member provide a report to Council on the work that has been completed
in the past few months.
