Bylaw S6
BARBED WIRE FENCES
1. No person shall erect barbed wire fencing within the Cape Breton Regional Municipality
unless for agricultural or security reasons.
2. Barbed wire fencing erected for security reasons shall be affixed to standard fencing and
located a minimum of seven feet above the surrounding grade.
3. Notwithstanding Clause # 1, in no instance shall barbed wire fencing be erected, adjacent to
or abutting on, a sidewalk, public thoroughfare or any other form of public way.
4. Any Bylaw or any provision thereof passed and approved by any former Municipality within
the boundaries of the County of Cape Breton prior to July 31, 1995 which conflicts with or
acts contrary to the provisions of this Bylaw are hereby repealed with this Bylaw becoming
law and any other provision such Bylaws are hereby ratified and confirmed insofar as they
are not in conflict with this Bylaw.
PASSED AND ADOPTED
by a majority of the whole Council at a duly called meeting of the
Cape Breton Regional Municipal Council held on the 19th day of December 1995.

December 1995.
